Dear Fellow Architect or Engineer petition signers,

I am inviting you to participate in a coordinated outreach effort to news organizations in and around New York City.

As you know, our most recent strategy for educating the public has taken the form of an advertising campaign called ReThink911. In September, we raised funds for outdoor ads in 12 cities around the world, bringing an unprecedented level of attention to the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7. Our centerpiece ad, a 54-foot-tall billboard in the heart of Times Square that poses the question “Did you know a 3rd tower fell on 9/11?” will remain through the end of October.

With the window of opportunity our Times Square billboard presents, we are conducting a two-week outreach effort to news organizations in and around New York City, encouraging them to report on the billboard. Last week, we had over 2,100 emails sent to the NY Times, Daily News, NY Post, Village Voice and Newsday! This week, the non-A/E supporters are participating in a massive Letter to the Editor campaign.

As part of this outreach effort, we are also coordinating the submission of ‘Op-Eds’ to the NY Times, Daily News, Newsday and Star-Ledger from our architect and engineer petition signers.

Will you join us in this important effort?

The Plan

These are the simple steps you would take:

  1. Email us today at OpEd@ae911truth.org and let us know you plan to participate.
  2. Write your op-ed sometime during the next four days.
  3. Email your op-ed to OpEd@ae911truth.org by Sunday, October 20 at noon Pacific Time so that we may review and edit it for factual accuracy and email it back to you.
  4. Email our edited version of your op-ed to the NY Times on Monday, October 21 (we will provide more detailed instructions then).
  5. If the NY Times does not respond after 3 days, email your op-ed to the Daily News, Newsday and Star-Ledger on Friday, October 25 (we will provide more detailed instructions then).

If you are not able to write a draft op-ed by Sunday at noon Pacific Time and participate in the first phase mailing to the NY Times, you still have the opportunity to participate in the second phase mailing of op-eds on Friday, October 25 – just email your draft op-ed to OpEd@ae911truth.org by Wednesday, October 23.

Instructions for Writing Your Op-Ed

  • Your op-ed should use the ReThink911.org website for ideas and the billboard in   Times Square as a springboard for discussing the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7.
  • To conform to the requirements of all four newspapers, your op-ed should be between 650 and 750 words. However, the NY Times accepts op-eds of any length, with a suggested upper limit of 1,200 words. Therefore, you may choose to submit a longer version to the NY Times and a shorter version to the other three newspapers.
  • Include a very brief bio at the end of your op-ed that describes your professional background.

We would be honored and greatly encouraged if you choose to participate. At the very least this outreach will begin to legitimize our position in the eyes of the editorial staff of these news organizations, thus planting a seed for the future that will blossom as the ReThink911 campaign continues to grow.

Please join our effort today by sending us an email to OpEd@ae911truth.org.

We thank you for your continued support and commitment to this vitally important issue. Thanks to you, we are nearing 2,100 architect and engineer petition signers, and the rate of new petition signers is increasing.

Thank you for being a part of our success.

Sincerely,

Richard Gage, AIA
